I remember while growing up that my mother in between the daily chore of raising
a family, would scratch down on anything that was handy, parts and words to a poem
that she was working on, for she was always thinking of words to express herself
and keep her mind busy by writing poems, about people and events that happened in
her life, also the things that were dear to her. I will include one of them in each of the
following issues of the "Scuttlebutt" as long as you enjoy them and I don't run out.
So here is the very first one.
The dark gray storm clouds
Hung heavy over head
The thunder and the lightning
Filled many hearts with dread.
There was that awful quiet
That just precedes a storm
The air was without motion
So still and damp and warm.
All the forest creatures
Know these signs one and all
It means they must find cover
Before the rain drops fall.
Maybe there will be hail stones
Up in those clouds so dark
That can bring about destruction
Or break a weakened heart.
Some times deep inside me
I feel a storm like this
A longing for some haven
Where life is filled with bliss.
A place where weary mortals
Can rest from all this care
That seams forever with us
Sometimes more than we can bear.
But the skies will brighten
And become all blue again
When all the clouds are empty
No longer filled with rain.
And when the storm is over
The very beauty of the day
Lifts up my heart with courage
And steals my fears away.
Suddenly there comes a feeling
That I must try once more
To work a little harder
For what I'm striving for.

Here we are stepping into a brand new year, I hope it
will be a good one for all of us, we are full of hope that it will be, as we are certain who is in
charge of it all!
When Laurie and I are out and about I always carry
our camera in hopes to capture a snapshot to use in our little paper. The weather so far this
infant year has not been very good as far as nice photo taking weather is concerned, I will try
hard to keep enough on hand to fill you in on what is happening here around Flathead Lake.

Here's a "Hairy Woodpecker" at the suet feeder.
A Good friend I bicycle with.
A Beautiful "Pileated Woodpecker".
