"'Painting by Mother"

I'm looking at a picture
My mother painted long ago
Tis a picture of a church yard
And grave stones, almost buried in the snow.

The red rays of the sunset
Are in the background plain to see
I wonder if this picture
Has a message for you or me.

When wintertime comes to a life
That started in the spring
Will the cold snows at sunset
Be what living here will bring.

Is there something beyond this graveyard
A Christian hopes to see
Gods word tells about his promise
How his son died for you and me.

So when the sunset of this life
Comes with winter snow to fall
Lets be sure we heard the savior
When he softly gave his call.

May has arrived in all it's Glory and splendor, the new growth on a lot of the trees and bushes is popping out like pop corn, there are also new birds arriving almost every day .     We had our first ever Grey squirrel to visit our seed platform, he was so pretty with a longer tail than the tree squirrels that have been here all along.
Laurie and I went to a huge yard type sale at the county fair grounds in nearby Kalispell, they put the sale on to raise money for several local charities and it looked like it was a major success, Laurie picked up a large supply of towells, washcloths, along with some real nice sneakers, all to be shipped to the kid's & their folks at brother Ken's mission in Kino Mexico, also I was able to pick up several smaller childrens size bicycles, the simple kind with only one speed that use what they call a coaster-brake, to clean up and repair to go to the same place.
Laurie and I had a wonderful Spring trip to California via Idaho, Oregon and Nevada and while in California we took a few pictures of the Nevada County Fair Grounds in the City of Grass Valley, which we will share in the next couple of issues of the "Scuttlebutt". The fair grounds are very old with many giant first growth Yellow & or Ponderosa pine scattered all about, there was no one there at the time we were there, only a very few workers starting to redo the flower beds that border the walk ways, at fair time however the whole place comes alive with activity.

Weather Information

"A look at some of the weather we are having."

April turned out to be a very nice time, even if on the cool side which is fairly normal for Western Montana, later in the month we started in to have occasional days that were warmer as Mother Nature begins tuning up for the growing season. The Osprey ( Fish Hawk) are back in the Flathead Valley and almost every nest has a pair of them taking up housekeeping.
