"A Grandmother"

I'd like to be a Grandmother
That her grandchildren would love
And let them know she understood
What they may be thinking of.

Even though she is much older
While they are still quite young
She loves them very much
And thinks they're lots of fun.

She would like to tell them
Many things they'd like to know
Maybe when she was a child
And what went on, so long ago.

Maybe they would like to hear
About when Daddy was a boy
The things he said and what he did
And how he was a joy.

Or maybe you could tell about
When Mother was a girl
Were her dresses long or short
And if her hair would curl.

There are so very many things
That through the years gone by
It would be a shame not to tell
What things were done and why.

Grandmothers must earn respect
From even these ones so small
To teach them how nice it is
When grown up very tall.

Now that winter is approaching, the rush to get everything ship shape and ready for the snow and cold weather, is on, along with getting all the lose ends tied up we also are trying to get all the Hiking, Biking and outdoor things one is unable to do when it's cold and frosty out there, worked in while there is still time, like this morning my neighbor Markson and I did an 11 + mile bike ride, almost into Kalispell.
Lauries flowers, the ones she has planted in planters and old wine barrels that were cut in half just to use for that purpose are just about done for, if the deer don't finish them off Jack Frost will. Our 12 year old well system decided to give us trouble, We are glad it did not wait till there is snow on the ground to kick up it's heels. What happened was the gavanized pipe between the top of the well and the submersible pump sprung a hole and had to be replaced, while we were at it and had the pump out of the well we opted to replace the galv. pipe with heavy duty PVC pipe and also since it is almost 400 ft. down, replace the pump motor with a new unit.
We are getting things together for our anual fall trip South through several states to visit friends and family as we try to do each year.
When we return home it will be time to move the wood into the mudroom where we stack it for winter, I have still failed to get pictures of the "Highland" cattle that are pastured along Airport road, it seems they are either to far away from the fence or I forget to take the camera, it is always something.
I have been busy painting Christmas cards and will send out as many as I can get done this year, still have a while yet to go! also I have several wooden signs to carve and bicycles to work on so that will help keep me out of trouble.

Weather Information

"A look at some of the weather we are having."

Well as weather goes we have had our share of damp days compared to the last few years, however we are certainly not complaining , now the people who are living in Florida, they have a reason this year to complain! Even when it gets the worst my Grandmother always said there was a ray of sun in every cloud.
So there is always room for hope, even in the darkest times.
